Quality 16-300mm Hydraulic crimping tool

Original price was: KSh 10,000.00.Current price is: KSh 8,999.00.

  • Wide Crimping Range (16-300mm²): The most critical feature, enabling work on a broad spectrum of large cable sizes.
  • High Crimping Force: Designed to deliver substantial force (e.g., 70KN, 12 tons) required for effectively crimping large copper and aluminum lugs.
  • Interchangeable Hexagonal Dies: Comes with a comprehensive set of precision-machined dies for each specific cable size within its range (e.g., 16, 25, 35, 50, 70, 95, 120, 150, 185, 240, 300 mm²).
  • Rotatable Head (180°): Allows the user to maneuver the tool for easier access in confined spaces or awkward angles.
  • Automatic Pressure Release (Bypass Valve): A safety and quality feature that automatically releases pressure once the crimp is complete, preventing over-crimping and ensuring consistent crimp quality.
Description

A 16-300mm hydraulic crimping tool is a robust and powerful piece of equipment designed for creating secure, high-integrity electrical connections on very large gauge cables. The “16-300mm” signifies its capacity to crimp cable cross-sectional areas ranging from 16 square millimeters (mm²) up to 300 square millimeters (mm²).

This tool is a significant upgrade from smaller hydraulic crimpers (like 4-70mm) and is essential for heavy-duty electrical work where manual mechanical crimpers simply cannot apply enough force.

What it’s used for:

This tool is primarily used in industrial and large-scale electrical applications:

  • Main Power Distribution: Crimping main power cables from transformers, switchgear, and large circuit breakers.
  • Utility & Grid Infrastructure: Connecting overhead or underground power lines.
  • Heavy Industrial Machinery: Wiring large motors, pumps, and other high-current equipment.
  • Renewable Energy: Connecting large solar arrays to inverters and battery banks, or wind turbine wiring.
  • Shipbuilding & Marine: For high-current electrical systems on vessels.
  • Mining: Powering heavy machinery and infrastructure.

How it works:

Like other hydraulic crimpers, the 16-300mm model operates on the principle of hydraulic force multiplication.

  1. Die Selection: The appropriate crimping die set (typically hexagonal) matching the cable and lug size is chosen and inserted into the tool’s crimping head.
  2. Cable & Lug Placement: The stripped cable end is inserted into the lug, and then the lug with the cable is placed between the crimping dies.
  3. Pumping (Manual or Powered):
    • Manual Hand Pump: The user repeatedly pumps the tool’s handle. This action builds hydraulic pressure, which extends a piston, driving the crimping dies together.
    • Battery-Powered or Electric Pump (for larger, more frequent use): For even larger tools or higher volume work, a separate battery-powered or electric hydraulic pump can be connected to the crimping head. This makes the crimping process almost effortless for the user.
  4. Crimping Force: As pressure builds, the dies are forced together, deforming the lug material around the cable strands, creating a cold weld and a strong electrical and mechanical bond. These tools typically exert significant force, often 70kN (kiloNewtons) or more (equivalent to around 7 to 12 tons).
  5. Pressure Release: Once the crimp is complete, a pressure release valve is opened (either manually or automatically), retracting the piston and allowing the dies to open so the crimped connection can be removed. Many modern tools have an automatic pressure release when the crimping force reaches its maximum, preventing over-crimping.
